How well does our industry collaborate?
Industry Collaboration occurs when multiple organisations operating within the same industry work together on shared challenges, opportunities or outcomes.
Examples include developing common standards, building shared infrastructure, advancing innovation, improving skills, solving supply-chain issues or addressing industry-wide environmental impacts.
Industry collaboration can involve competitors as well as suppliers, customers, regulators, research organisations and industry bodies.
It requires organisations to recognise where collective value can be created beyond what any individual organisation can achieve alone.
Competitors can still create value together where no single organisation can act alone.
The dimensions are nested, but they are not independent. System collaboration still depends on people being able to build trust. Industry collaboration still depends on organisations working across boundaries. Planetary collaboration ultimately depends on millions of individuals, teams and institutions learning to collaborate more effectively.
