Achieving a work-life balance is something many people strive for, and it seems for many an unattainable goal.

Please introduce yourself to our readers…
Can you tell us what company you work for?

What is your title there?
Director of Marketing and Communications.
What are the exact responsibilities of your job?

- Oversee digital marketing with our 9 websites and 3 columns.

What is it about your job that makes you love it?
I basically created this position. Everything I do is because of my direction and my creativity. I have proven myself to the firm and gain trust in my ability to manage my position with clear concise execution.
As the managing partner once said to me, “I never have to worry about anything coming out of marketing because your standards are so high, that I know if it passes you, it must be good.” This excites me. I get to have fun and enjoy my job with transparency and autonomy.
They allow me room to grow, fail, succeed, and test new methods of brand development. Best of all, something that really was important to me, was I have been able to create more jobs. I can’t ask for anything more.
What particular skills or talents are most essential to completing your tasks?
Project Management! Being a leader (not a manager), creative, able to think outside the box, tech savvy, a good communicator, presenter and writer.
I don’t know what I can’t do.
Being a successful marketer means you need multiple skills, but most importantly the ability to handle multiple projects to completion regardless of what the project entails is essential. As my boss calls me, “I am a can-do-kid.”
What level of education would you say is required to perform your role?
At least a Bachelor’s degree.
Do you find that you bring your work home with you? (And is that a good or bad thing?)
I’ve taught myself not too; work-life balance is very important for me. I’ve learned that with work, you do what you can, meet your deadlines, and be happy with your productivity as long as you are grinding hard while you are on the clock. The work will always be there and there will always be another chance to complete it.
How does this job compare to other jobs you’ve held in the past?
I’ve always been in a place to create something. I love entrepreneurship. I consider myself an intrapreneur. That’s an entrepreneur inside an organization. I have always been allowed to be creative and create processes or whatever it might be that we decide we want to work on. It has allowed me growth also on the side, start my own entrepreneurial venture, where I flip homes with my brother.
What is your favorite food?
CHOCOLATE!
